Loeffler: Georgia Receives More than $828,000 to Expand Telehealth

Funding is Part of Loeffler-Sponsored Provision in the CARES Act

ATLANTA, GA – U.S. Senator Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) announced that Georgia is receiving $828,571 to expand telehealth programs across the state. This funding is part of two provisions Loeffler introduced in the Coronavirus Aid, Recovery and Economic Stability (CARES) Act to expand rural and telehealth programs.

“Telemedicine is a key way of keeping Georgians healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic, and that is why I championed a program to expand it in the CARES Act,” Loeffler said. “This funding will help more people across the Peach State stay connected with their doctors from the safety of their own homes. Once this crisis passes, building out this technology will continue to help Georgians, particularly those in our rural areas, check in with their doctors, access specialists with offices far away and lead healthier lives.”

This funding will help doctors and hospitals in Georgia set up telehealth technology and provide technical support. In addition, the CARES Act included a Loeffler priority to prevent shortages of essential medical supplies like masks, respirators and ventilators.
