Loeffler on Fox News: Amy Coney Barrett Has Deep Reverence for Constitution
Vows to Vote to Confirm Nominee, Stop Democrats from Playing Politics to Advance Their Radical Agenda
ATLANTA – In an interview on Fox News’ “Outnumbered Overtime with Harris Faulkner,” U.S. Senator Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) discussed President Donald J. Trump’s nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court of the United States and corrected the record on Senate precedent for confirming Supreme Court nominees between July and election day.

ON THE NOMINATION OF AMY CONEY BARRETT: “…I have to say, I was so honored to be with the president at the White House and so proud to support Amy Coney Barrett. I mean she’s a true originalist. She will interpret the Constitution, she will honor the Constitution, she has deep reverence for it and she will uphold the law. She’ll protect innocent life, she’ll protect the Second Amendment and our religious freedoms. And that’s what women want, is fairness. They want someone who will uphold the law and not legislate from the bench. And that’s what women want, is a level playing field…[Amy Coney Barrett] is a mother, a wife, an educator and a judge. I think women will be so proud. And we’ll be able to have the Constitutional freedoms that are guaranteed because she’s not going to legislate from the bench.”
ON SCHUMER PLAYING POLITICS: “In presiding in the Senate…we follow what is handed over from the parliamentarian, and I decided to do my own research after that and found that from July through election day there were actually three appointments, and so I corrected the record on that. This just shows what Schumer and the Democrats want to do. They want to play process, they want to play games to impose their power grab here. The president has every right to nominate an appointment to the Supreme Court. I am proud to do my duty, to do my job as a senator, to advise and consent to that. They’re going to play every procedural game because they don’t have any ground to stand on here, and they want to advance their radical agenda, and we’re not going to let that happen. We’re going to keep this process moving forward, and I wanted to stand up for that in the Senate.”
