Loeffler Announces Nearly $15 Million for Gwinnett County Transit

Will Help Maintain Equipment and Vehicles, Support Operational Expenses

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) announced the Gwinnett County Transit will receive $14,800,000 in Federal Transit Administration funds.

The funding, which was awarded through the Coronavirus Aid, Recovery and Economic Stability (CARES) Act, will help maintain equipment and revenue vehicles as well as support operational expenses such as bus and rail transportation, customer service, safety services, equipment, service scheduling and managing parking facilities.

“Gwinnett County is one of the fastest growing areas in Georgia,” said Loeffler. “Amid the coronavirus, I’m glad the Department of Transportation is investing in our state’s public transit. This critical federal funding will go a long way to improving infrastructure, preventing layoffs and ensuring growth in our communities.”
